Owls and OSSAA still hopeful

ELGIN - Elgin's football team became the second sports team to have to quarantine due to the COVID-19 virus. The Lady Owls softball team also had to spend time quarantined.

On July 23, the OSSAA held a Zoom meeting to discuss the future of Fall sports, with the hopes of Elgin and all the other schools being able to continue with their seasons.

Elgin Head Football Coach Chalmer Wyatt was still optimistic. "Up until this point we have been very fortunate," he said. We have had 29 workouts, not including Friday's optional workouts.

With our players, I will be more mindful of our physical shape coming off the two-week quarantine. Again, we have to play the cards we were dealt and try to ensure we are ready for our first padded practice on August 10.
