Football is in full swing with District play just one week away.

Elgin will open District play at home when they welcome the Elk City Elks to the “Nest” on Friday, Sept. 24.

But football isn’t the only sport I want to talk about this week.

No really!

Elgin’s Lady Owls volleyball team has put together a nice season so far.

After opening the season 1-3 the Lady Owls have went 6-2 since then and have a few impressive wins to sit at 7-5 right now and are ranked 18th in Class 5A.

The schedule shows they have five regular season games left and a tournament in Cache and the Western Conference tournament before setting their sites on Regionals.

Elgin’s Cross Country teams have three meets un- der their belts already and are set to run again on Fri- day, Sept. 17 in the LHS/ Ike Invitational which is set to held at Cameron University in Lawton.

The Owls Cross Country teams will run three other meets before hosting the Elgin Owl Classic on Oct. 15.

As always, stay safe and healthy.
