College and high school football teams are still struggling with how and when to have football season. The Southwest Athletic Conference became the latest conference to move their season to the Spring.

The Big Ten and the Pac-12 have canceled all their non-conference games for the upcoming season. The SEC, ACC and Big 12, the other three Power Five schools, have yet to announce what they will do for the upcoming football season. The University Interscholastic League announced this week that it will delay the start of Class 5A and 6A practice until Sept. 7, with the first games set of Sept. 24.

From what I am reading, 11 or 12 states have delayed the start of football and fall sports while some have canceled fall athletics altogether. Executive Director David Jackson told Cameron Jourdan from The Oklahoman last week that, " The Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association plans to play football and all fall sports in the coming months but moving those activities to the spring remains a possibility".

I am cautiously optimistic that we will have football this fall in Oklahoma, but it seems like the long rows of dominoes to me. When one begins to fall, one by one goes down until it is done. As always, stay safe and healthy!
